What is Emerging Voices?

In our society many people feel powerless, like their voices don’t matter. When people feel their voice is heard anything is possible. Emerging Voices helps people understand their own power and gives them the tools they need to create the change they want to see.

Emerging Voices is an awareness-based collective action model of community participation. It combines the ‘doing’ and the ‘being’ by helping participants lift their quality of awareness – of themselves and their environment – as well as giving them practical tools for taking action.

Through workshops participants gain the confidence, knowledge and skills they need to drive real, lasting change in their communities. They learn how to expand their influence through a range of strategies including building relationships, campaigning and crafting their story.

Lasting change

Emerging Voices operates above and below the surface. We tend to focus our effort on the top one-tenth of the iceberg. To get lasting change we need to understand what’s happening below.

The model promotes a greater understanding of the values, motivations and beliefs of the individuals who are creating the change.

Building strategic relationships

Emerging Voices also operates on four levels. It starts on the individual level with self-awareness, accepting that if you want to change the world around you, you must first change yourself.

It empowers individuals to build strategic relationships, grow teams and lead community change.
